1 Alleluia.
Give praise, you servants of the Lord, ♦︎
O praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord, ♦︎
from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting ♦︎
let the name of the Lord be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations ♦︎
and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God,
that has his throne so high, ♦︎
yet humbles himself to behold
the things of heaven and earth?
6 He raises the poor from the dust ♦︎
and lifts the needy from the ashes,
7 To set them with princes, ♦︎
with the princes of his people.
8 He gives the barren woman a place in the house ♦︎
and makes her a joyful mother of children.
Alleluia.

17 The word of the Lord came to me: 18Mortal, the house of Israel has become dross to me; all of them, silver,* bronze, tin, iron, and lead. In the smelter they have become dross. 19Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20As one gathers silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into a smelter, to blow the fire upon them in order to melt them; so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will put you in and melt you. 21I will gather you and blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted within it.

31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
32He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else?
33Who will bring any charge against Gods elect? It is God who justifies.
34Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.*
35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written,
For your sake we are being killed all day long;
we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
