1 Alleluia.
Praise the Lord, O my soul:
while I live will I praise the Lord; ♦︎
as long as I have any being,
I will sing praises to my God.
2 Put not your trust in princes,
nor in any human power, ♦︎
for there is no help in them.
3 When their breath goes forth, they return to the earth; ♦︎
on that day all their thoughts perish.
4 Happy are those who have the God of Jacob for their help, ♦︎
whose hope is in the Lord their God;
5 Who made heaven and earth,
the sea and all that is in them; ♦︎
who keeps his promise for ever;
6 Who gives justice to those that suffer wrong ♦︎
and bread to those who hunger.
7 The Lord looses those that are bound; ♦︎
the Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
8 The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; ♦︎
the Lord loves the righteous;
9 The Lord watches over the stranger in the land;
he upholds the orphan and widow; ♦︎
but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever, ♦︎
your God, O Zion, throughout all generations.
Alleluia.

17 You shall not deprive a resident alien or an orphan of justice; you shall not take a widows garment in pledge. 18Remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.
19 When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be left for the alien, the orphan, and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all your undertakings. 20When you beat your olive trees, do not strip what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow.
21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, do not glean what is left; it shall be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow. 22Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this.

12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. 13Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see whether perhaps he would find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14He said to it, May no one ever eat fruit from you again. And his disciples heard it.
20 In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. 21Then Peter remembered and said to him, Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered. 22Jesus answered them, Have* faith in God. 23Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea, and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. 24So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received* it, and it will be yours.
