1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom then shall I fear? ♦︎
The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom then shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes,
came upon me to eat up my flesh, ♦︎
they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host encamp against me,
my heart shall not be afraid, ♦︎
and though there rise up war against me,
yet will I put my trust in him.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord
and that alone I seek: ♦︎
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
5 To behold the fair beauty of the Lord ♦︎
and to seek his will in his temple.
6 For in the day of trouble
he shall hide me in his shelter; ♦︎
in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me
and set me high upon a rock.
7 And now shall he lift up my head ♦︎
above my enemies round about me;
8 Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an oblation
with great gladness; ♦︎
I will sing and make music to the Lord.
9 Hear my voice, O Lord, when I call; ♦︎
have mercy upon me and answer me.
10 My heart tells of your word, Seek my face. ♦︎
Your face, Lord, will I seek.
11 Hide not your face from me, ♦︎
nor cast your servant away in displeasure.
12 You have been my helper; ♦︎
leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
13 Though my father and my mother forsake me, ♦︎
the Lord will take me up.
14 Teach me your way, O Lord; ♦︎
lead me on a level path,
because of those who lie in wait for me.
15 Deliver me not into the will of my adversaries, ♦︎
for false witnesses have risen up against me,
and those who breathe out violence.
16 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord ♦︎
in the land of the living.
17 Wait for the Lord;
be strong and he shall comfort your heart; ♦︎
wait patiently for the Lord.

18 On the third day Joseph said to them, Do this and you will live, for I fear God: 19if you are honest men, let one of your brothers stay here where you are imprisoned. The rest of you shall go and carry grain for the famine of your households, 20and bring your youngest brother to me. Thus your words will be verified, and you shall not die. And they agreed to do so. 21They said to one another, Alas, we are paying the penalty for what we did to our brother; we saw his anguish when he pleaded with us, but we would not listen. That is why this anguish has come upon us. 22Then Reuben answered them, Did I not tell you not to wrong the boy? But you would not listen. So now there comes a reckoning for his blood. 23They did not know that Joseph understood them, since he spoke with them through an interpreter. 24He turned away from them and wept; then he returned and spoke to them. And he picked out Simeon and had him bound before their eyes. 25Joseph then gave orders to fill their bags with grain, to return every mans money to his sack, and to give them provisions for their journey. This was done for them.
26 They loaded their donkeys with their grain, and departed. 27When one of them opened his sack to give his donkey fodder at the lodging-place, he saw his money at the top of the sack. 28He said to his brothers, My money has been put back; here it is in my sack! At this they lost heart and turned trembling to one another, saying, What is this that God has done to us?

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons
10not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world.
11But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister* who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one.
12For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge?
13God will judge those outside. Drive out the wicked person from among you.
6When any of you has a grievance against another, do you dare to take it to court before the unrighteous, instead of taking it before the saints? 2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3Do you not know that we are to judge angelsto say nothing of ordinary matters? 4If you have ordinary cases, then, do you appoint as judges those who have no standing in the church? 5I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to decide between one believer* and another, 6but a believer* goes to court against a believer*and before unbelievers at that?
7 In fact, to have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? 8But you yourselves wrong and defraudand believers* at that.
