12 Happy the nation whose God is the Lord ♦︎
and the people he has chosen for his own.
13 The Lord looks down from heaven ♦︎
and beholds all the children of earth.
14 From where he sits enthroned he turns his gaze ♦︎
on all who dwell on the earth.
15 He fashions all the hearts of them ♦︎
and understands all their works.
16 No king is saved by the might of his host; ♦︎
no warrior delivered by his great strength.
17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; ♦︎
for all its strength it cannot save.
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord
is upon those who fear him, ♦︎
on those who wait in hope for his steadfast love,
19 To deliver their soul from death ♦︎
and to feed them in time of famine.
20 Our soul waits longingly for the Lord; ♦︎
he is our help and our shield.
21 Indeed, our heart rejoices in him; ♦︎
in his holy name have we put our trust.
22 Let your loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, ♦︎
as we have set our hope on you.

4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created.
In the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5when no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no herb of the field had yet sprung upfor the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no one to till the ground; 6but a stream would rise from the earth, and water the whole face of the ground 7then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground,* and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.

42 So it is with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. 43It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44It is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body. 45Thus it is written, The first man, Adam, became a living being; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46But it is not the spiritual that is first, but the physical, and then the spiritual. 47The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is* from heaven. 48As was the man of dust, so are those who are of the dust; and as is the man of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. 49Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we will* also bear the image of the man of heaven.
