1 Clap your hands together, all you peoples; ♦︎
O sing to God with shouts of joy.
2 For the Lord Most High is to be feared; ♦︎
he is the great King over all the earth.
3 He subdued the peoples under us ♦︎
and the nations under our feet.
4 He has chosen our heritage for us, ♦︎
the pride of Jacob, whom he loves.
5 God has gone up with a merry noise, ♦︎
the Lord with the sound of the trumpet.
6 O sing praises to God, sing praises; ♦︎
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth; ♦︎
sing praises with all your skill.
8 God reigns over the nations; ♦︎
God has taken his seat upon his holy throne.
9 The nobles of the peoples are gathered together ♦︎
with the people of the God of Abraham.
10 For the powers of the earth belong to God ♦︎
and he is very highly exalted.

8In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had appeared to me at first. 2In the vision I was looking and saw myself in Susa the capital, in the province of Elam,* and I was by the river Ulai.* 3I looked up and saw a ram standing beside the river.* It had two horns. Both horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one came up second. 4I saw the ram charging westwards and northwards and southwards. All beasts were powerless to withstand it, and no one could rescue from its power; it did as it pleased and became strong.
5 As I was watching, a male goat appeared from the west, coming across the face of the whole earth without touching the ground. The goat had a horn* between its eyes. 6It came towards the ram with the two horns that I had seen standing beside the river,* and it ran at it with savage force. 7I saw it approaching the ram. It was enraged against it and struck the ram, breaking its two horns. The ram did not have power to withstand it; it threw the ram down to the ground and trampled upon it, and there was no one who could rescue the ram from its power. 8Then the male goat grew exceedingly great; but at the height of its power, the great horn was broken, and in its place there came up four prominent horns towards the four winds of heaven.
9 Out of one of them came another* horn, a little one, which grew exceedingly great towards the south, towards the east, and towards the beautiful land. 10It grew as high as the host of heaven. It threw down to the earth some of the host and some of the stars, and trampled on them. 11Even against the prince of the host it acted arrogantly; it took the regular burnt-offering away from him and overthrew the place of his sanctuary. 12Because of wickedness, the host was given over to it together with the regular burnt-offering;* it cast truth to the ground, and kept prospering in what it did. 13Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one that spoke, For how long is this vision concerning the regular burnt-offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled?* 14And he answered him,* For two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.

10And I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire.
2He held a little scroll open in his hand. Setting his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,
3he gave a great shout, like a lion roaring. And when he shouted, the seven thunders sounded.
4And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down.
5Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and the land
raised his right hand to heaven
6 and swore by him who lives for ever and ever,
who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: There will be no more delay,
7but in the days when the seventh angel is to blow his trumpet, the mystery of God will be fulfilled, as he announced to his servants* the prophets.
8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, Go, take the scroll that is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land. 9So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll; and he said to me, Take it, and eat; it will be bitter to your stomach, but sweet as honey in your mouth. 10So I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it; it was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.
11 Then they said to me, You must prophesy again about many peoples and nations and languages and kings.
