7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,
Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
as on the day of testing in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors put me to the test,
though they had seen my works
10for forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation,
and I said, They always go astray in their hearts,
and they have not known my ways.
11 As in my anger I swore,
They will not enter my rest.
12Take care, brothers and sisters,* that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
14For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end.

1 O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
6 O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 when your ancestors tested me,
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they do not regard my ways.
11 Therefore in my anger I swore,
They shall not enter my rest.

40 A leper* came to him begging him, and kneeling* he said to him, If you choose, you can make me clean. 41Moved with pity,* Jesus* stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, I do choose. Be made clean! 42Immediately the leprosy* left him, and he was made clean. 43After sternly warning him he sent him away at once, 44saying to him, See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. 45But he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the word, so that Jesus* could no longer go into a town openly, but stayed out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.
