7 The Lord said to Joshua, This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they may know that I will be with you as I was with Moses. 8You are the one who shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, When you come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan. 9Joshua then said to the Israelites, Draw near and hear the words of the Lord your God. 10Joshua said, By this you shall know that among you is the living God who without fail will drive out from before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites: 11the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is going to pass before you into the Jordan. 13When the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan flowing from above shall be cut off; they shall stand in a single heap.
14 When the people set out from their tents to cross over the Jordan, the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were in front of the people. 15Now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest. So when those who bore the ark had come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the edge of the water, 16the waters flowing from above stood still, rising up in a single heap far off at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, while those flowing towards the sea of the Arabah, the Dead Sea,* were wholly cut off. Then the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17While all Israel were crossing over on dry ground, the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, until the entire nation finished crossing over the Jordan.

1 When Israel went out from Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
2 Judah became Gods* sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.
3 The sea looked and fled;
Jordan turned back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.
5 Why is it, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
6 O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

21 Then Peter came and said to him, Lord, if another member of the church* sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times? 22Jesus said to him, Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven* times.
23 For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves.
24When he began the reckoning, one who owed him ten thousand talents* was brought to him;
25and, as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, together with his wife and children and all his possessions, and payment to be made.
26So the slave fell on his knees before him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.
27And out of pity for him, the lord of that slave released him and forgave him the debt.
28But that same slave, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow-slaves who owed him a hundred denarii;* and seizing him by the throat, he said, Pay what you owe.
29Then his fellow-slave fell down and pleaded with him, Have patience with me, and I will pay you.
30But he refused; then he went and threw him into prison until he should pay the debt.
31When his fellow-slaves saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place.
32Then his lord summoned him and said to him, You wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.
33Should you not have had mercy on your fellow-slave, as I had mercy on you?
34And in anger his lord handed him over to be tortured until he should pay his entire debt.
35So my heavenly Father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister* from your heart.
19When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.
