¹²And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
¹³And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.
¹⁴And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
¹⁵And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
¹⁶And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
¹⁷And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
¹⁸And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

Psalm 99

¹The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
²The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
³Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.
⁴The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.
⁵Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
⁶Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.
⁷He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.
⁸Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.
⁹Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

¹⁶For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
¹⁷For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
¹⁸And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
¹⁹We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
²⁰Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
²¹For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

17And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
²And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
³And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
⁴Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
⁵While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
⁶And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
⁷And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
⁸And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
⁹And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
